Excellent for Bikan Historical Quarter explorers
The location is excellent for those wanting to explore the Bikan HIstorical Quarter. Lots of nearby dining and cafe options. The staff member we dealt with had extremely good English. The rooms are comfortable enough and ell worth the price. We highly recommend a visit to the Piggy Bank and Toy Museum across the road, sadly not a terribly accessible building but the collection and its owner's enthusiasm makes it worth the visit if you're able.
The beds were a bit firm for our liking. The shop onsite was under construction so there was limited items available. A little hard to navigate as it is a vert large complex. No clothes washing/drying facility.

Great stay at one of Japan’s best unknown gems
Thé location is fantastic, the staff is very friendly and the history of the hotel is very cool too, I would totally come back to Kurashiki and to the Kurashiki Ivy Square!
The food wasn’t that great, we actually stayed at other “low” cost hotels and the food was great. For this type of hotel you would think the food would be of higher quality but it could be better.

Perfect location if you are visiting the historic district of Kurashiki
If you are visiting the historic district of Kurashiki, this is THE best place to stay - superb location (in the district) and, as a historic building itself, it has personality. Our room comfortable, newly remodeled with high ceilings, and very quiet. Cool bar in the basement. Lovely open courtyard - wonderful for sitting outside when the weather is nice. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice public bath.
Nothing to complain about. Small item - bar didn’t open until 8pm, we would have liked to have had a drink before going out to dinner.
